Microsoft Stream is moving to Microsoft 365!
We're not shy about using our own products and services internally here at Microsoft, and as such, we're already taking advantage of recently moving our internal video platform-Microsoft Stream-under the Microsoft 365 umbrella. The transformation of our corporate video platform has made it easier for our employees to create, upload, edit, and publish enterprise videos, says Marc Mroz, a product manager for Microsoft's Office Media group, who explained that the new, modern Microsoft Stream experience is benefitting from now being located within SharePoint specifically. The Microsoft Digital Employee Experience team has been working with Mroz and the product group team on deploying the modern Microsoft Stream experience across the company, with the team that publishes the company's internal employee portal among those taking the lead on trying it first. Folding Microsoft Stream directly into Microsoft 365 and SharePoint using OneDrive for storage has made it more useable and accessible within Microsoft, Mroz says, adding that it also ensures that the product stays more current. To learn more and to find out how you can deploy the modern Microsoft Stream experience at your company, read the full story here: Corporate video at Microsoft gets a big upgrade thanks to the modern Microsoft Stream experience. When moving from classic to the modern Microsoft Stream experience, take stock of your current inventory, especially if you have a large archive of Microsoft Teams recordings. Thanks to the way SharePoint sites populate content, you can elegantly use parent and child sites to share content to targeted audiences without having to duplicate efforts Keep your SharePoint organized; this was true before Microsoft Stream came to Windows 365 and it's still true after Video is a great way to onboard new employees or offer just-in-time training.

Microsoft's HRWeb portal runs on SharePoint in Microsoft 365
Microsoft's own human resources portal - known internally as HRWeb - gets personal, thanks to the modern SharePoint experience in Microsoft 365. Microsoft employees use HRWeb to check on benefits, adjust withholdings, find a specific company policy, and more. I use it to check health benefits, get career guidance, learn about official company holidays, and print out tax info when it's tax season here in the US. HRWeb is a one-stop shop internal human resources site that serves a variety of important employment information for all 160,000+ employees worldwide. The homepage of Microsoft's HR portal running on modern SharePoint in Microsoft 365. The full article shares more about the strategy and execution of how Microsoft found just the right fit - plus a little custom code and Jay Clem about how Microsoft adjusts its practices and technology to improve the employee experience for 160K full-time Microsoft employees around the world - including insights abouth the very same HRWeb. If you have any questions about the tech, the strategy, and any feedback for the team, please leave a comment and I'll do my best to either answer inline or loop the right person in to carry the discussion forward.

What's new and what's next for SharePoint Server
SharePoint Online is Microsoft's premier SharePoint experience thanks to the rich integration that is possible with cloud services and the ability to rapidly innovate with a cloud-focused engineering model; however, we also recognize that SharePoint Server has been and will continue to be a critical part of the collaboration and business process strategy for many of our customers. Last year we showed our commitment to our on-premises customers with the release of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition and today we'd like to share some exciting news about new investments we're making in SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, as well as other updates to the SharePoint Server ecosystem. Instead of waiting for the next major version of SharePoint Server to be released, new feature experiences will now be introduced to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition on a regular basis via updates. The feature update released in the second half of calendar year 2022 is called SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Version 22H2. A feature update released in the first half of calendar year 2023 is called SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Version 23H1. Today we're pleased to announce that the Version 22H2 feature update is now available as part of the September 2022 Public Update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. As a reminder, SharePoint 2010 workflows will only be supported on SharePoint Server Subscription Edition through July 14, 2026, and that our recommended alternatives are SharePoint 2013 workflows or Power Automate. To ensure you can continue to use SharePoint 2013 workflows with your SharePoint Server environments, we will soon be releasing a new SharePoint Workflow Manager application to replace Service Bus and Microsoft Workflow Manager. In addition to these updates to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, we're also excited to announce that the SharePoint Server Technology Adoption Program is accepting nominations! The TAP provides an opportunity for you to help shape the future of SharePoint Server, and is open to customers, ISVs, consultants, MVPs, and other partners.

Update under lock: Improved update experience for Microsoft 365 Apps
We refer to this feature as update under lock, and it uses Click-To-Run technology. Update under lock helps you reach compliance within your timeframes without disrupting your internal users, and potentially reduces the need for abrupt forced updates, making updates more reliable by saving app state before closing. If there are running Office apps, update under lock will try to shut them down only when safe to do so, apply the pending update, and restore any closed apps to their previous state. Microsoft 365 subscriptions, Visio, Project, but not Microsoft Teams, which has its own update process Retail consumer/perpetual Office 2016, 2019, and 2021. If apps cannot shut down safely, updates are applied normally. Microsoft is always optimizing your updates experience, and this thoroughly tested feature lives under the hood to make your life easier. Continue the conversation by joining us in the Microsoft 365 Tech Community! Whether you have product questions or just want to stay informed with the latest updates on new releases, tools, and blogs, Microsoft 365 Tech Community is your go-to resource to stay connected!
