Microsoft 365 Lighthouse Deployment Insights
Lighthouse provides a comprehensive security baseline and helps you deploy it across your customers' tenants - which is VERY cool - but what's even cooler is the ability to see the deployment status of every task and every user across every tenant that you manage on a single pane of glass! Previously, even with the comprehensive deployment capabilities of Lighthouse, you would have to look at each tenant, one-by-one, to understand their deployment status, review deployment exceptions, and figure out which tenants you should focus on at any given time. If you're an admin, you can use deployment insights to assign deployment activities across your team and audit deployment exceptions. If you're a service engineer, you can use deployment insights to quantify threats based on user- and task-level deployment progress so you can prioritize your deployment activities. If you're in sales, you can use deployment insights to identify which tenants need additional licenses to complete their deployment plan. Deployment insights can be viewed by tenant or by task. Lighthouse has powerful deployment capabilities that allow you to tailor baselines for each tenant that you manage which means that you need equally powerful reporting capabilities to help you audit and manage deployment exceptions as your tenant management strategies evolve.

Frontline workers using shared Android devices can use Outlook, Edge, Viva Engage, and Power Apps
Companies often provide mobile devices to frontline workers that need to be shared between shifts. Microsoft's shared device mode allows frontline workers to easily authenticate by automatically signing users in and out of all the apps that have enabled this feature. We are announcing the general availability of Outlook, Edge, Viva Engage, and Power Apps on shared Android devices, joining the portfolio of apps including, Microsoft Teams and Managed Home Screen. Once signed into a shared Android device, frontline workers can immediately send and receive emails on Outlook to communicate with team members and their leadership team. At the end of their shifts, frontline workers can sign-out easily with just one-click, removing all browser information on Edge or personal information on Viva Engage so that they can return it to the device pool for the next person to use.

Microsoft 365 Lighthouse helps you secure and improve the health of your customer tenants
Microsoft 365 Lighthouse makes it easier than ever for Managed Service Providers to deliver services to small- and medium-sized customers at scale, with multi-tenant management capabilities that help secure users, devices, apps, and data across customer tenants. With a comprehensive security baseline that ensures your customer tenants are healthy and secure, an intuitive deployment process, and rich deployment insights, Lighthouse helps MSPs spend more time proactively securing their customer tenants and less time reactively resolving security threats or breaches. The Microsoft 365 Lighthouse Security baseline provides standard tenant configurations that deploy core security policies and compliance standards that keep your tenants' users, devices, apps, and data secure. Lighthouse saves you the trouble by checking newly onboarded tenants to see how they're configured and comparing detected configurations to your deployment plan, so you'll know whether and to what degree each task is already done for each tenant before you even begin, helping you configure tenants faster than ever before - lowering your cost to serve and accelerating your journey to managing a Zero-Trust environment across all of your customers' tenants. Securing your customer tenants It's not just about helping you do the right work - it's also helping you do the work right! The Future of Customer Support: Creativity in Customer Support
Ross Smith: I want to talk about creativity in customer support. There are several ways in which large language models like me can be used to support creative problem-solving in customer support. In summary, while large language models like me may not be able to originate completely new ideas, they can be leveraged to augment human creativity and support agents in generating innovative solutions to customer problems. ChatGPT: Yes, it is possible that future LLMs may be able to inject more nuanced and creative metaphors into their responses to support customer support interactions. In summary, while there are still significant challenges to overcome in enabling machines to generate truly creative and nuanced language, there is promising research and development underway that suggests that future large language models may be able to inject more sophisticated metaphors and values into their responses to support customer support interactions. Modern customer support: Customer support is increasingly becoming more technologically-driven, utilizing AI and automation to improve efficiency and deliver personalized experiences. New era in content management and security in SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
As the sprawl of Teams and SharePoint sites contribute to the exponential growth of your organization's digital estate, it's important to identify the top sites that require close attention. SharePoint admin views SharePoint data access governance insights and triggers site access reviews to site owners, and restricts access for an overshared site, Project Apollo. Users who are not the current members of the specified security groups will be denied access even if the site or its content was previously shared with them by breaking inheritance from the site permission. It empowers SharePoint admins to control the list of third-party applications allowed access to a given SharePoint site or OneDrive. Introducing cloud.microsoft: a unified domain for Microsoft 365 apps and services
As Microsoft cloud services have grown over the years, the domain space they live on has grown as well - into the hundreds. Consolidating authenticated user-facing Microsoft 365 experiences onto a single domain will benefit customers in several ways. Microsoft TLD. Access your Microsoft 365 cloud emissions data with the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability API
Today, we are pleased to announce that customers can access their Microsoft 365 cloud emissions data via the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability API. An image of the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability API web portal demonstrating the new Microsoft 365 data source, availability status and connection button that you can toggle on or off. The Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability API allows you to access greenhouse gas emissions associated with your usage of Azure and Microsoft 365 services by scope type, month, year and region. For Microsoft 365, the data pulled through the API is consistent with the Emissions Impact Dashboard for Microsoft 365: datacenter emissions associated with your organization's usage of Exchange Online, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This calculation is market-based, meaning that it takes into account Microsoft's renewable energy power purchases. Along with the general availability announcement of the Emissions Impact Dashboard for Microsoft 365 last fall, we also published guidance in this Microsoft 365 Sustainability whitepaper on how admins and end users can act to help influence Microsoft 365 datacenter emissions. Organizations can now configure access to both emissions related to usage of Microsoft 365 services as well as emissions related to Azure usage from the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability API portal, discoverable on the Microsoft Cloud Solutions Center. Microsoft 365 admins can enable access to their data across the organization with role-based permissions.

Support update for SharePoint 2013 workflow in Microsoft 365
As part of this evolution of Microsoft 365 solutions, we retired SharePoint 2010 workflow as of November 1, 2020. In continuation with this, we will be retiring SharePoint 2013 workflow and believe Microsoft 365 customers will be better served by modern workflow solutions. If you are using SharePoint 2013 workflow, we recommend migrating to Power Automate or other supported workflow orchestration solutions such as those from Preferred members of our Microsoft 365 Business Apps Partner Program. If your tenant is using a 3rd party workflow engine, you should also inquire if it has a dependency on Workflow 2013 and work through options to migrate to a future offering of the workflow engine. To understand if your organization is using SharePoint 2013 workflow or begin planning migration to Power Automate or other 3rd party orchestration tools, we recommend that customers run the Microsoft 365 Assessment tool to scan their tenants for SharePoint 2013 workflows usage. Using the Workflow Report along with site information, tenant administrators can plan the migration of SharePoint 2013 workflows with minimal impact to the users. Since the release of SharePoint workflows, Microsoft has evolved workflow orchestration to not only encompass SharePoint, but all the productivity services you use with Microsoft 365 and extend to 3rd parties.

Request external files into SharePoint document libraries
Now we have extended the same capability for SharePoint - specifically requesting file into document libraries. A file request can start from a link in your email signature, a link in a chat, a hyperlink that is a part of your intake or onboarding processes with customers, clients, and vendors. To start, you simply select a folder you want the recipient to place documents into and click Request Files. The recipient clicks on the link, picks her or his files, and uploads - only able to see the files they upload. The original requestor will get an email when new files are added - seeing the new files with the name of the person who uploaded them. Once guest sharing is enabled, site owners and members can select a folder to request files into - after which you can send a unique link or email direct from the SharePoint user interface. What a recipient sees when they click on a request files link - a web page with a simple browse and upload experience; no access or visibility to anything else in the sender's SharePoint environment. Admins can use the SharePoint Online Management Shell to disable or enable the Request Files feature on OneDrive or SharePoint sites.

What's new for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition
When we launched SharePoint Server Subscription Edition in November 2021, we shared our vision of a server built for continuous innovation, which emphasized the specific needs of our on-premises customers including new features to help simplify management, improve your security posture, and streamline your upgrade from earlier versions of SharePoint Server. In keeping with our commitment to make SharePoint Server Subscription Edition the foundation for our evolution of SharePoint Server, today we're delighted to share the next step on this journey: the new 23H1 feature update for SharePoint, built on these same principles as the 22H2 feature update. To simplify the process for updating your SharePoint Server Subscription Edition environments, we're introducing a single update each month for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, starting with the March 2023 public update. To expand the customization scenarios that SharePoint Server Subscription Edition supports, the 23H1 feature update adds support for SharePoint Framework version 1.5.1. As the long-term foundation for SharePoint Server, we continue to invest in keeping SharePoint Server Subscription Edition updated with modern technologies. SharePoint Server Subscription Edition introduced a new certificate management feature that allows SharePoint farm administrators to directly manage the deployment and lifecycle of SSL/TLS certificates in their SharePoint Server farms. As SharePoint Server Subscription Edition evolves with the new continuous release model, our product servicing policy also evolves with it.

The Future of customer support: Empathy and compassion. An interview with ChatGPT
A series of discussions with Ross Smith and OpenAI's ChatGPT about the future of customer support. At the same time, it will be important for companies to invest in training and development programs that help support agents cultivate empathy and compassion, as these traits will continue to be critical to providing high-quality customer support. ChatGPT: AI can help improve customer empathy by providing support agents with more information and insights about customers, allowing them to better understand their needs and emotions. Predictive insights: AI can analyze customer behavior and data to provide support agents with predictive insights about what a customer is likely to need or want. By providing support agents with more information and tools, AI can help improve customer empathy and enhance the overall customer experience. It's important to note that AI cannot replace the human touch and that support agents will continue to play a critical role in providing empathetic and compassionate customer support. ChatGPT: It's difficult to determine which of the 10 ways AI and human customer support agents can work together will have the most impact on the customer experience, as it will depend on the specific needs and preferences of each customer.

Microsoft Visio Viewer app for iOS will be retired from the App Store
Since the introduction of Visio for the web more than six years ago, we've continuously improved the viewing and file sharing experience for Visio drawings stored in OneDrive and SharePoint. On August 14, 2023, the Microsoft Visio Viewer app will be retired and removed from the Apple App Store, so that our team can focus our energy on making Visio for the web even better. If you are an admin and received a notification in the Microsoft 365 Message center, it means one or more people in your organization are using the Visio Viewer app for iOS. This blog post aims to provide guidance on how current users of the Visio Viewer app for iOS can access, view, and share Visio files moving forward. Users with a Microsoft 365 subscription can access and view Visio files through a web browser by signing in to visio. Transitioning from the Visio Viewer app on iOS to Visio for the web is easy. To learn more about which browsers work with Visio for the web, or how to view and comment on diagrams created with a Visio Plan 1 or Visio Plan 2 subscription, visit our Visio for the web FAQ. Thank you to those who used the Visio Viewer app for iOS and provided reviews over the years. Your feedback has helped to shape the Visio viewing and file sharing experience on iOS devices and has helped us to understand areas where we can improve the experience across Visio.

Announcing the release of SharePoint Workflow Manager for SharePoint Server
SharePoint 2013 Workflows are a key scenario for SharePoint Server customers as they power many critical business processes and can operate in purely on-premises deployments. Today, Microsoft is pleased to announce the release of SharePoint Workflow Manager, a new workflow engine to power the SharePoint 2013 Workflows platform for SharePoint Server and replace Service Bus and Microsoft Workflow Manager. We recommend that all SharePoint Server customers using SharePoint 2013 Workflows upgrade to SharePoint Workflow Manager as soon as they're able to. Microsoft will focus all future investments and maintenance on SharePoint Workflow Manager rather than Microsoft Workflow Manager, including providing support beyond the year 2026. Microsoft will continue to provide technical support for existing deployments of Service Bus and Microsoft Workflow Manager until the version of SharePoint Server they're being used with reaches end of support, or until July 14, 2026, whichever comes first. Customers who need new SharePoint 2013 workflow engine installations can only install SharePoint Workflow Manager. We look forward to sharing more examples soon with the upcoming release of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Version 23H1, the next feature update for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.

Use Playlists to create collections of video or audio files in Microsoft 365
Today, we're introducing Playlists - a new and simple way to curate and share video or audio collections within Microsoft 365. With playlists in Microsoft 365, you add content using the new 'Playlist' template in Microsoft Lists. A published Playlist makes it easy to view and share a collection of audio and video files. Users can add any video and audio files to a playlist that they have edit access to. People with access to the playlist and to the files in the playlist can view the videos in order or skip back and forth between items in the playlist. Playlists can be used to create an organized collection of podcasts, training videos, product demo videos, Teams meeting recordings, or other audio/video content. We, too, expect to enable notification functionality to alert you when any new video is added to playlists that you are subscribed to.

Building beautiful sites with purpose: Part 2
As you are building out your site one of the ways that you can add visual interest to your site is through your choice of images. TIP: All images should have alternate or decorative text applied to them to make your images and sites fully accessible. There are a few core differences between a communication and team site that will require us to make different choices to make our sites look beautiful. For the homepage of the communication site, we started out with a full-width section that utilized an image web part to display a high impact garden image with our prominent headline for our homepage included on the image. Team sites do not allow full-width sections and web parts. As you looked in detail at both of the sites created, you might have noticed that some of these had some extra pieces in them that made the site stand out a bit more and are not available directly out of the box. There are so many options for ways that you can customize your sites with images and designs, let your imagination run wild and create something beautiful.

Let's Talk Education
The Microsoft Education commercial support team can help you find the right educational support, at a time that fits your schedule. Brian: Thank you, and I see you are a leader on our Microsoft 365 Education team. Brad: Three years ago, or so, I joined customer success engineering where I lead a team that looks at consumer, small business, and education audiences, like EDU IT admins, teachers and educators, students, and parents of students across the Microsoft 365 usage and support funnel. Brad: This program started a couple years ago, and it was derived in the same way that most of the best things are - from customer feedback! The voice of our customers and what we learned looking at in-product feedback and support feedback was that education IT admins specifically could really use support experiences from a team that not just understands Microsoft 365 - our support teams, do they understand Microsoft 365 very well - but really understood Microsoft 365 education nuances and the uniqueness of the education IT admin workflow. What we developed was this hypothesis, this idea, that a Microsoft 365 Education Generalist team, that is to say a team that understands the whole product suite, not just a couple of parts of it well, but the whole suite, and specialized on Education IT admin workflows within that product suite specifically, could deliver a world class support experience. They all have that base knowledge and on top of that, they have very deep understanding of the education nuances, such as, how Teams Commercial is different from Teams Education. Imagine a seasonally relevant experience where education IT admins receive a differentiated in-product and Microsoft 365 admin center experience to help guide them through all the best practices to ensure a successful school year.

Your end customers will now be able to create appointments using the multiple staff service and meet all staff members together. Multiple staff: When selected, the booking will be scheduled with all the assigned staff members of the service.
