Multi-tenant organization capabilities now available in Microsoft 365

Today we're thrilled to announce a robust set of multi-tenant organization capabilities within Microsoft 365, now generally available to enhance your organization's collaboration, communication, and administration across multiple tenants. These capabilities span Microsoft 365 People Search, Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage and Microsoft Defender XDR, which can be enabled via the Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft Entra admin center. This segmentation can cause frustration when users need to communicate and collaborate across tenant boundaries, whilst IT admins need to perform the same set of administrative tasks per tenant to maintain their organization. An image showing a synchronized user profile from another tenant in Microsoft 365. Enable Microsoft 365 multi-tenant capabilities with Microsoft Entra ID. Multi-tenant organization platform capabilities are now rolling out to standard production tenants in Microsoft 365. To deliver the above capabilities, administrators can enable multi-tenant capabilities in the Microsoft 365 admin center and configure which users in the organization can take advantage of multi-tenant capabilities using either Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft Entra admin center. For a simplified experience, stay in the Microsoft 365 admin center to sync users into multiple tenants in your multi-tenant organization. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/3UxhSoi Source: Microsoft Tech Community Microsoft 365 Blog

Apple Vision Productivity on The Intrazone Microsoft podcast

It's time to unveil the mysteries of productivity within the Apple Vision Pro. John takes us into the realm of spatial computing as it blends with the productivity stack of Microsoft 365. John is an enterprise architect at EY and Microsoft MVP who specializes in Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, Stream, and Virtual Events. Not only is John a great resource to understand the ins and outs of Microsoft 365-based communications and collaboration, but he recently invested in an Apple Vision Pro and started testing the pro'ductivity of Teams and Outlook from within the visionOS experience. We talked about some of the headset features, challenges, and benefits, John's experience using his persona during Teams meetings including the spatial audio experience, we centered on the visionOS experience of Microsoft Teams and Outlook apps, and last - we asked John what he wants to see next, both from Microsoft app integrations for the Vision Pro and what Apple can do to support better integration with other Apple devices. Fun meta fact: We recorded the interview via a normal 1:1 Teams meeting AND John joined in true Teams tech fashion using his Vision Pro + Teams to join. What John Moore saw when wearing the Vision Pro during our Teams meeting recording; you can see I was closing my eyes envisioning that I, too, was wearing a Vision Pro headset ;). Microsoft SharePoint Roadmap Pitstop March2024 and The Intrazone podcast

March 2024 brought some great new offerings: SharePoint: New section backgrounds, Answers in Viva content in Microsoft Search, SharePoint Premium: Enable/disable Unstructured, Structured, and Prebuilt Document Processing, Manage SharePoint Embedded containers, Microsoft Lists: New forms experience, New Planner app in Teams, OneDrive: Create with templates, Microsoft Viva Goals: New URL domain, and more. Microsoft SharePoint Embedded, currently in Public Preview, is an API-only solution empowering app developers to leverage the file and document storage in Microsoft 365 to create line-of-business or multitenant applications. Microsoft Loop is an example of a SharePoint Embedded application - and is configured for you by default - and is a great example of what a custom application can do using a SharePoint Embedded repository as its backend storage. It brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Planner, the power of Microsoft Project, and the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 into a single, simple solution that spans from individual task management and frontline task management to enterprise and professional project management. We are updating the existing Tasks by Planner and To Do app in Microsoft Teams to the new Microsoft Planner app, which will maintain all existing app functionality and add new options and features to help users be more productive. Microsoft Viva Goals: New URL. Like we noted for Microsoft Loop a few roadmaps ago, and as part of the broader effort to bring Microsoft 365 apps and service onto the single cloud. Act now: Turn on or customize Microsoft-managed Conditional Access policies

Since we announced Microsoft-managed Conditional Access policies, we've rolled out these policies to more than 500,000 tenants in report-only mode. Customers shared that Microsoft-managed policies impact the number of Conditional Access policies that organizations can create. We've addressed this by making a significant change: Microsoft-managed policies will no longer count towards the Conditional Access policy limit. Another adjustment relates to existing Conditional Access policies. As a result, we have extended the time frame before enforcing the policies for this initial set of policies. For these three policies, you will have more than 90 days to review and customize your Microsoft-managed Conditional Access policies before they are automatically enforced. Review these policies in the Conditional Access policies blade. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/4cqQL5y Source: Microsoft Tech Community Microsoft 365 Business Blog

Remote Event Receivers retirement update

As part of this change of Microsoft 365 solutions, we announced on November 27, 2023 that both the SharePoint Add-In extensibility model and the use of Azure ACS for SharePoint Online authentication needs are retired as we believe Microsoft 365 customers will benefit more from modern SharePoint extensibility models and modern authentication offered by Microsoft Entra ID. The retirement of SharePoint Remote Event Receivers is part of these announcements, but we want to address the feedback we've received from our partner ecosystem and offer a better transition path from Remote Event Receivers. If you are deploying a Remote Event Receiver as part of a SharePoint Add-In or if you're using Remote Event Receivers registered using Azure ACS as the authentication system, then these Remote Event Receivers will follow the same retirement timeline as the one communicated for SharePoint Add-Ins and Azure ACS use for SharePoint Online. If you are registering your Remote Event Receivers using an Entra application that uses the sites. Selected role for getting granular access to one or more site collections, then those Remote Event Receivers will continue working until July 1st, 2027. To learn more about this approach you can read the Use remote event receivers without Azure ACS dependency article. Today Remote Event Receivers support a synchronous and asynchronous model, whereas web hooks are designed to be asynchronous. We are not planning to support synchronous web hooks, we recommend partners to redesign business flows that depend on synchronous operations. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/4cnZxkv Source: Microsoft Tech Community SharePoint Blog

Upcoming preview of Microsoft Office LTSC 2024

Today we are pleased to announce that the commercial preview of the next Office LTSC release - Office LTSC 2024 - will begin next month, with general availability to follow later this year. Like earlier perpetual versions of Office, Office LTSC 2024 will include only a subset of the value found in Microsoft 365 Apps, building on the features included in past releases. Office LTSC 2024 will not ship with Microsoft Publisher, which is being retired, or with the Microsoft Teams app, which is available to download separately. While Office LTSC 2024 offers many significant improvements over the previous Office LTSC release, as an on-premises product it will not offer the cloud-based capabilities of Microsoft 365 Apps, like real-time collaboration; AI-driven automation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; or cloud-backed security and compliance capabilities that give added confidence in a hybrid world. Because we know that many customers deploy Office LTSC on only a subset of their devices, we will continue to support the deployment of both Office LTSC and Microsoft 365 Apps to different machines within the same organization using a common set of deployment tools. Office LTSC is a specialty product that Microsoft has committed to maintaining for use in exceptional circumstances, and the 2024 release provides substantial new feature value for those scenarios. To support continued innovation in this niche space, Microsoft will increase the price of Office LTSC Professional Plus, Office LTSC Standard, Office LTSC Embedded, and the individual apps by up to 10% at the time of general availability. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/3v4vRs7 Source: Microsoft Tech Community Microsoft 365 Blog

Evolving user enablement in the era of AI

At Microsoft over the last year, we have been focused on learning how AI is influencing this critical area by listening and learning from customers, partners, and experts around the globe who are taking this journey with us. It covers the three core elements of AI enablement - the leadership journey, user enablement and technical readiness - with real world guidance and tools to support your implementation. You can read the blog in our Microsoft 365 Copilot community or go directly to the experience via our Copilot Hub at adoption. Over the coming months, you will see our existing documentation and guidance materials for other areas such as the new Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Viva, and others align to this model. Our work is better described by the term user enablement, and you will see this reflected across the Microsoft 365 content going forward, as evidenced first with our Copilot Success Kit resources. In the most successful user enablement programs, there is a lifecycle of reviewing technology capabilities to build technical acumen, applying them to stated business goals through the employee engagement driven by Champions, and ongoing skilling programs. Join us in the upcoming Microsoft 365 Champion community call to hear more discussion on this direction and what's next for our supporting tools across other user enablement opportunities. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/3ItEJuk Source: Microsoft Tech Community Driving Adoption Blog

Deep Dive of Microsoft-managed Conditional Access Policies in Microsoft Entra ID

This blog was originally published on the Entra ID blog on 2/6. In November 2023 at Microsoft Ignite, we announced Microsoft-managed policies and the auto-rollout of multifactor authentication-related Conditional Access policies in customer tenants. Microsoft-managed Conditional Access policies have been created in all eligible tenants in Report-only mode. These policies are suggestions from Microsoft that organizations can adapt and use for their own environment. Network provider connectivity attribution in the Microsoft 365 admin center

In the list of locations, you should see a Network Providers column that shows you the network providers used at each location. In the Network Traffic tab where you see the list of providers at the tenant level, you can click on any network provider and a flyout panel appears with an option to View Locations that you can click to view the list of automatically filtered locations for this provider. View Locations is not shown when we can't identify the office locations where the network provider is used. We depend on location information from Windows Location Services to discover your location, it's possible that WLS is not enabled on your user's devices, or you chose to not share the location information with Microsoft in the Settings for Network Connectivity in Microsoft 365 admin center. In the network telemetry we have information like your LAN Subnet ID, Egress IP address that enables us to show all your locations from where your users are connecting to Microsoft 365. You added a location using /20 LAN subnet, we received a LAN subnet attribute containing /24 in the network assessment, we will map this network assessment to the location based on the /20 supernet definition. You can use the NPI chart to find top performing network providers and view their performance assessment at a given location, such as your office location or any other location from where users connect to Microsoft 365. -------------------- Read more at https://bit.ly/3SE1AJC Source: Microsoft Tech Community Microsoft 365 Blog

The Microsoft Visio team is excited to announce that Visio for the web will now support custom shapes, a feature that many of you have been asking for! Users with a Visio Plan 2 license will be able to import custom shapes in the form of a Visio stencil file, which can be created using the Visio desktop app or downloaded from a third-party source. Adding custom shapes in Visio for the web is simple, but please note that a Visio Plan 2 license is required.
